Tebo’s dance is contemporary but with elements of Indonesian traditional dance. His performance is innovative because he uses the traditional Barongan mask in a contemporary dance. He is performing featuring Indonesian and world ethnic music which includes various instruments such as kendang, didgeridoo, djembe, flute and many other instruments from worldwide. In contrary he is also performing with experimental and electronic sounds combined with video art. His goal is to explore dance featuring different sounds, instruments and genres of music while still using the traditional mask from Indonesia. And as he believes by wearing the Barongan mask his dance is directly influenced by the spirit of the Big Tiger – the dance becomes energetic, powerful and most importantly filled with big spirit.
